The Tulou of Fujian

Deep in the province of Fujian we can find the rural village of Yunshuiyao. Here, the tulou rise as the ancestral buildings they are. The tulou are circular or square shaped constructions that keep many houses inside. They are made of dirt and form part of the material cultural heritage of China by UNESCO. They are fortress-houses and some of them can keep even 80 families inside.
